The singer also released five additional songs for the Spilled version of Guts
Olivia Rodrigo‘s Guts are all spilled!
On Friday, as she celebrated the release of her Guts (Spilled) deluxe album, Rodrigo dropped the fever dream music video for “Obsessed.” The video sees the Grammy winner in a room full of her ex’s past lovers in the form of pageant queens. “Miss Thought She Was the One” and “Miss Also Thought She Was the One” blow smoke in her direction as she enters a crowded banquet hall in a black dress while everyone else dons sleek white gowns.
“If I told you how much I think about her/You’d think I was in love/And if you knew how much I looked at her pictures/You would think we’re best friends,” sings Rodrigo as the scene cuts to her surrounded by the sash-wearing women, all with their own superlatives: “Miss Still His ‘Closest Friend,’” “Miss 2 Summers Ago,” and “Miss Mom’s Favorite.”
Rodrigo has been performing “Obsessed” during her Guts world tour. “Rodrigo cemented her position in pop culture as a generation-defining artist. As a rockstar. And as an energy-filled idol that is only just beginning her career,” read a Rolling Stone review of the show.
“Obsessed” is included on the deluxe edition of Guts, which also features tracks “Girl I’ve Always Been,” “Scared of My Guitar,” “Stranger,” and “So American.” The tracks were previously included on different variants of the Guts vinyl record.
Back in October 2023, Rodrigo appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone, where she discussed the making of Guts and the themes she wanted to explore. “This album encapsulates growing up and figuring yourself out in the world, and the awkwardness of that,” she said. “I feel myself growing leaps and bounds.”
