Visionary Emmy Award-winning director and producer Greg Yaitanes, known for Game of Thrones, Bones, and House of the Dragon, spoke with MovieWeb's Greg Archer about directing episodes of Jake Gyllenhaal's new series, Presumed Innocent.
Yaitanes served as a co-executive producer on the prequel series “House of the Dragon,” for which he also directed three episodes, including the critically acclaimed finale. The finale, “The Black Queen,” surpassed “Game of Thrones” in international viewership. The series won Best Drama Series at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards and was nominated for Best Drama Series at this year’s Critics’ Choice Awards.
Prior to that, Yaitanes produced and directed “Castle Rock” for J.J. Abrams and Stephen King, as well as Jordan Peele’s “The Twilight Zone.” Additionally, Yaitanes served as executive producer and sole director on “Manhunt: Unabomber,” the venerable “Quarry” and the critically acclaimed “Banshee.” It was his work on the global hit “House” that earned him a 2008 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. Between “House” and “Banshee,” Yaitanes led his team to 29 Emmy nominations and six wins. His 30-year career includes countless critically acclaimed episodes of “The Old Man,” “Snowfall,” “Grey's Anatomy,” “Genius: Picasso,” “Lost” and the pilot episode of “Bones,” which ran for 13 seasons.
