Rahul Kohli Joins ‘Deepest, Darkest’ Horror Anthology

The new sci-fi horror anthology “Deepest, Darkest” has added another cast member to its already impressive lineup of genre heavyweights.

Rahul Cohle, a beloved member of Mike Flanagan's band The Flanavers (“The Haunting of Bly Manor,” “The Fall of the House of Usher”) and a key member of the film's cast. The cast member of crime-solving series “iZombie” has officially joined the cast of “Deepest, Darkest,” a new horror film written and directed by Marc Bernardin and actress Tiffany Smith.

“Deepest Darkest is an exciting project that brings together all of my favorite genres and people. Joining this project was a no-brainer for me,” says Kohli, expressing his excitement early in the process. diverse.

Cohli joins the previously announced cast that includes Smith (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”), Rosario Dawson (“The Mandalorian,” “Ahsoka”), Ernie Hudson (“Ghostbusters”), Whittide Badaki (“American Gods”), Phil LaMarr (“Futurama,” “Samurai Jack”) and “Quantum Leap” stars Raymond Lee and Caitlin Bassett.

To round out this impressive lineup, the show is executive produced by Akeelah Cooper (“M3GAN,” “Malignant”) and David Dastmalchian (“Late Night With the Devil,” “The Suicide Squad”).

“Deepest, Darkest” was created in collaboration with Bernardin (who previously worked on “Star Trek: Picard” and “Castle Rock”) and Smith, and was produced by Rachel Walker, Carrie Finn and Kyle Smithers.

Bernardin, a WGA Award winner, will direct and made his directorial debut last year with the short film “fragment.”

The collection promises a mix of horror, dark comedy, suspense, and science fiction, with a pitch that reads: “Have you ever had a secret? A secret so big, so terrible, so terrifying that you had no choice but to keep it to yourself? Something that if anyone else knew, the revelation would turn your world on its axis? What if there was someone whose job it was to listen to these secrets—because they could never remember them? How much would you pay for forgiveness?”

“Deepest, Darkest” will also bring together a team of acclaimed television writers to step behind the camera and explore stories of horror, suspense, dark comedy and cutting-edge science fiction — all centered on the deep human instinct to keep secrets. Writers include LaToya Morgan (“The Walking Dead”), Deric A. Hughes, Benjamin Raab (“The Flash”) and Ubah Mohamed (“The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Avatar: The Last Airbender”).)The film will be directed by Lamont Magee (Black Lightning, Star Wars: The Young Jedi Adventures), Sujata Dey (Insecure), and Kevin Avery (Last Week Tonight with John Oliver), many of whom will be making their directorial debut. Writers-directors Avery and Dey will also star in the film's sequels.

The film is currently raising money through a Kickstarter campaign, which has raised $128,000 of its $250,000 goal. “A Kickstarter campaign is always a risk,” Bernardin says. “But I think there’s an audience that would welcome a collection of cinematic short stories that aim to thrill, scare and provoke while also celebrating voices that aren’t often central to such stories.”

The campaign has so far gathered 713 supporters, and continues until Thursday, September 26.
