Drake Raps Over Metro Boomin’s ‘BBL Drizzy’ Diss Beat

Just when the heated battle that dominated hip-hop the past few months seemed to be over, Drake has kicked a little dust back up with his appearance on Sexyy Red’s “U My Everything,” a cut included on her new release “In Sexyy We Trust.”

Drake, who was locked in a contentious back-and-forth with Kendrick Lamar, also had public issues with Metro Boomin, who featured Lamar on the Drake diss track “Like That” back in March. On “U My Everything,” Drake raps over Metro’s “BBL Drizzy” beat, which the producer released online and encouraged his followers to make their own version of the song.

“Me and the surgeon got history / I changed a lot of girls’ lives for real, they need a new body, they hittin’ me,” raps Drake as the beat switches to “BBL Drizzy.” “BBL Drizzy, they want a new body, they ask me for it / The last one drunk, he did it for free ’cause I sent over so many passports for him, for real.”

Of course, this is a troll. “BBL Drizzy” was something that Rick Ross lobbed at Drake last month as an accusation that he had cosmetic surgery. Metro took that as a cue to make his own diss beat, which he released on Soundcloud on May 5. For those tuned into the rap beef, Lamar name-dropped Sexyy Red on his “Euphoria” diss track aimed at Drake, rapping, “When I see you stand by Sexyy Red, I believe you see two bad bitches.”

The tension between Drake and Lamar had altogether simmered since the two rapid-released a succession of diss tracks a few weekends ago. On their respective songs, they took deeply personal swipes at one another spanning accusations of domestic abuse to pedophilia. The beef culminated in Drake’s “The Heart Pt. 6,” where the rapper seemed to admit to growing tired of the battle.

“I’m not gonna lie, this shit was some, some good exercise, like It’s good to get out, get the pen working,” he said on the spoken-word outro of the song. Neither rapper has released a follow-up track in the subsequent weeks, suggesting that their issues had been played out for the time being.
