Forgiveness stars Andre Holland, Andra Day, John Earl Gilkes, Aunjanue Ellis Taylor, and John Earl Gilkes and is set to hit theaters October 18 from Roadside Attractions.
Tarell (Holland), an admired American painter, lives with his singer wife Aisha (Day) and their young son Jermaine. Tarell's artwork extracts beauty from the suffering of his youth, keeping the wounds of his past at bay. His path to success is derailed by an unexpected visit from his estranged father, LaRon (Gilkes), a man with a guilty conscience who is desperately trying to make peace with himself.
Tarell's mother, Joyce (Ellis Taylor), a deeply religious woman with a joyful spirituality, hopes that Tarell can open his heart to forgiveness, giving them all another chance at being a family. Tarell and LaRon learn that forgetting can be a greater challenge than forgiving in this raw and deeply moving film.
