There may not be many shows or movies coming to the platform next month, but there is still plenty worth watching.

Despite the special circumstances presented in the show, there is a universality to the message it conveys. PachinkoThe series objectively compares the hardships faced by older generations in the early 20th century with those faced by younger generations in the 1980s. The constant struggle for survival and food faced by young Soonja contrasts with the natural beauty of the Korean landscape and the simplicity of life.

Meanwhile, the “easier” lifestyle of the 80s, who have to struggle to thrive, rather than survive, takes place in the concrete jungle of 80s Tokyo and in the bloodthirsty corporate offices. In this story, Solomon struggles with his feelings about his grandmother's past. He understands the hardships she endured but does not want to live his life constantly in the shadow of guilt and sympathy for his grandmother's early life.
