Hardwicke also died during the strike in August 2023. After the writers' strike ended in September 2023, co-creator Greg Daniels and the writing staff returned to their writers' room.At that point, they were writing the scripts for episodes three and four, while still editing the previous two. With the logistical issues caused by the production shutdown, Daniels estimated that the show wouldn’t be ready to premiere until early 2025. If they can stick to that timeline, we can expect more information in the coming weeks and months. Animation is a time-consuming process, especially when there’s a six-month hiatus in the middle.
King of the Hill Cast Members Who Have Died and Who Won't Be Returning
We do know a few details about what to expect from the story. According to Bobby Hill’s assistant Pamela Adlon, the younger Hill will be between the ages of 12 and 21. Like almost all of the animated characters, Bobby didn’t age at all during the show’s original 13-year run. He’s also reportedly now working as a chef. It’s currently unknown how the revival will handle the deceased and non-returning cast members. We do know that Dale Hardwick will appear in limited capacity.But beyond that, it's unclear if they'll recast him for a future appearance or axe the conspiracy-loving neighbor. The original show featured the late Brittany Murphy and Tom Petty as Hank and Peggy's niece, Luann, and her husband, Lucky.
If the show chooses not to recast these roles, it will be easier for them to deal with the characters' absence. The two got married near the end of the original series, so Renaissance could easily say that she has moved away from Arlene.It is currently unknown whether Toby Huss, who voiced Hank Cotton's father and Hills Caan's neighbor, will return.
